Our Story

Hello!

We’re so glad you found us. My name is Kirsty Provan and I’m the founder and owner of Pacific Fairytales. It’s hard to believe that a tiny bean sprout of an idea has turned into 500+ events a year! I would love to say it was all Faith and Pixie Dust, but so much of it is owed to my incredible team (you can read about them here), and of course, YOU! So thank you for entrusting us with your special day.

Children have always had a very special place in my heart. Growing up in a big family, our home was always full of play and imagination; be it turning giant sized boxed into spaceships or searching through wardrobes for the entrance to Narnia. I was blessed and privileged to come from a home that encouraged creativity and independent thought; no idea was too big, no question too small. Perhaps that’s why it’s no surprise that I ended up here, running a company that thrives on thinking outside of the box. Every single one of our performers has a little piece of Wonderland tucked away in their back pocket, every gown we design has that tiny extra detail that only a child might notice. The grownups won’t quiz us about our friends or ask to see our shoes, but a child always will. They know what’s real and what’s not, so we better be authentic. I think that’s one of the things we do best here at Pacific Fairytales: however much we are here to serve you (the grownup), you’re not our primary focus. I don’t think this whole magic thing could work if you were. Truth be told, we are great at what we do, but it’s your child that takes a great Fairytale and breathes life into it. It’s the child who sits on the edge of the group in silence and by the end of the party they are reaching for our hand and chatting away; or the child who almost faints when their hero walks out of their storybook and into their living room. It’s the child who takes their Holiday mail to Show and Tell and talks about “my friend” in such a tangible way that suddenly the magic is real. And together in some beautiful dance that we don’t quite understand, we bear our souls in the course of an hour or two and leave forever changed. That is why you find yourself crying at a party; it isn’t us, not really. We just shine a light on the magic that’s already right there in your home. And goodness are we Blessed by it just as much as you.

“Train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old, they will not depart from it.”

– Proverbs, 22:6
